Important Characteristics of PPES,PPEK,PPESK


The main characteristics of the PPES,PPEK,PPESK are heat resistance, soluble, high strength and anti-abrasion. Among them, PPES has the most outstanding performance of heat-resistance with Tg 305¡æ, whereas PPEK has the most excellent performance of mechanics and friction.

High temperature Performance
Continuous service temperature of PPES and PPEK is up to 280¡æ.They can work for long time under 320¡æ, and can resist 400¡æ for a instant. The reinforced products have a continuous service temperature of more than 300¡æ. PPES and PPEK have excellent maintenance rate of mechanical Strength, and can be used within a wide range of temperature. Details in the Figure 2 of PPES,PPEK and DMA.

Strength and Dimension Stability
Exceptionally high mechanical Strength over a wide range of temperatures. PPES can retain 80% mechanical Strength at 250¡æ. Whereas mechanical strength of PEEK begins to drop rapidly at 145¡æ.PPES, PPEK, PPESK have excellent dimension stability.See Figure 4

Chemical Resistance
Insoluble in most common solvents at elevated temperatures and excellent resistance to a very wide range of organic and inorganic solvents.

Wear Resistance
Excellent friction and wear properties over a wide range of pressure, velocity, temperature and counterfacial roughness. Comparison of Coefficient of Abrasion of PPES,PPEK, PPESK see in the Figure 3

Radiation Resistance
Resistance to gamma radiation at high dose levels is exceptional. Absorption dose of gamma radiation of PPESK >107GY, Absorption dose of neutron(>1.0Mev)>1014n/cm2.

Low Flammability
PPES, PPEK, PPESK have self-extinguish properties without the use of additives. Low Smoke and Toxic Gas Emission. The composition and inherent purity of the materials results in extremely low smoke and toxic gas emission in fire situations.

Hydrolysis Resistance
Can be used for thousands of hours at elevated temperatures in excess of 250¡æ in steam or high pressure water environments without significant degradation in properties.

Electrical Properties
Remain stable over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies. Processing Easily processed using a wide range of conventional processing methods. The finished-goods have excellent mechanics.
